» Certificate & Diploma in Accounting (MYOB)

MYOB Accounting software is used in about 80% of New Zealand and Australian businesses and is becoming widely used internationally.

Many jobs are available for people trained in MYOB - there is a national shortage. MYOB (NZ) Ltd wants to ensure that well trained people are available for these jobs. Edenz helped develop these courses in partnership with MYOB (NZ) Ltd, and is currently the only school licensed to deliver the courses.
 


This is an introductory course. It requires no knowledge of Accounting before starting.
 
  • Who should consider applying for this course?
     
    Anyone who wants a basic knowledge of Bookkeeping or Accounting, and who may be required to look after the payroll accounts of an organization.
     
  • What is the entry requirement to apply for this course?
     
    Academic requirement is:

                          •  Good High School results, up to equivalent of Year 12 in NZ (Year 13 is the final year)

                          •  or aged 20 with relevant work experience

    English requirement is:

                         •  IELTS 5.0 (but 5.5 required if continuing into Diploma).
     
  • What is the structure of this course?
     
    There are 2 papers taught in one Trimester of about 13 weeks.
     
  • What is the course content of this course?
     
    • Bookkeeping & Basic Accounting
      Double entry accounting, basic ledgers etc

       
    • Payroll
      Accounting treatment and legal aspects of Salaries & Wages.
       
  • Which MYOB course length is more suitable?
     
    The Certificate is suitable for people who want a basic understanding of Accounting and Payroll, and are unlikely to want to move to a higher level of job.

This is a higher level course, and includes the Certificate above. It covers all of the main modules of the MYOB software package.
 
  • Who should consider applying for this course?
     
    Anyone who wants a good understanding of the MYOB software package, and who may wish to take more responsibility within an account department.
     
  • What is the entry requirement to apply for this course?
     
    Academic requirements is:

                          •  Good High School results, up to equivalent of Year 12 in NZ (Year 13 is the final year)

                          •  or aged 20 with relevant work experience

    English requirement is:

                         •  IELTS 5.0 (but 5.5 required if continuing into Diploma).

    3 Trimesters with 2 papers each Trimester.

  • Which MYOB course length is more suitable?
     
    The Certificate is a basic qualification for helping to understand data entry into an organisations’ accounting system. The Diploma provides a deeper understanding for those wishing to take more management responsibility.
